ND receives major scare in opener

INDIANAPOLIS- It was not the way Charlie Weis scripted it, but it was a win. I saw some things from Saturday night that I am excited about seeing from the Irish. We have to remember that Georgia Tech is a good ball club, and they actually received some votes to be ranked in the top 25. Notre Dame's defense shut down a high powered offense, which shows you that they have really improved in that aspect of the game. The offense wasn't great. but it is only the first game and they will only improve. Quinn threw for 268 yards and Walker ran for 99, so the offense wasn't completely shut down. A scare may have been what they really needed to get them ready for the tough opponents to come. All I know is that Notre Dame recorded a win, and even though it wasn't pretty, they showed their fans some exciting things on both sides of the ball.
