INDIANAPOLIS- I have yet to give you my opinion on the NFL season, so I am going to talk about the big news not only from this week but also from the season.
Bears on fire
This is one of the great stories of the NFL in this early season. The Bears are 5-0, and unlike the undefeated Colts, they have taken care of their opponents. The Colts have won 26-21, 21-14, 31-28, 14-13, and 43-24. The average line on all of those games was just under 10 points per game. The Bears on the other hand have had victories of 26-0, 34-7, 19-16, 37-6, and 40-7. The average line in those games was just 6 points. Even though the stats do stand that way, the only thing that matters at the end is the 5-0 record, which both teams hold. The point I am trying to make is that the Bears are the best team in the NFL, and with their killer new offense I look for it to stay that way.
Colts lose Simon for season
Cory Simon was a big part of the Eagles postseason success in the early T.O. era in Philadelphia. Last season he helped the Colts to a 14-2 regular season record, but he will not be a part of any success this season. Cory Simon will miss the rest of the season for the Colts due to an illness that Colts President Bill Polian says is not life threatening. The 300 lb. DT will be a big loss for the Colts considering that they are the second worst team in the NFL at defending the rush.
Steelers still slumping
When a team wins a super bowl, many people who were not fans before become fans of that team. We saw that happen with the Steelers. When the Pittsburgh boys won the super bowl last season, everybody was jumping on the bandwagon, which was funny because when the playoffs started everybody was hating on the Steelers. Well, everybody has jumped off the bandwagon at this point. The Steelers are 1-3, and their chances of making the playoffs look slim to none. QB Ben Roethlisberger has not been the same, and his recent play leaves you wondering if he ever will. The Steelers have a pretty medeoker remaining schedule with 3 crucial division games. They have to play at the Bengals and have two matchups with Baltimore. Other than that they have a tough game at Carolina, but the rest are very winable games. They will play Oakland, Cleveland (2), Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Kansas City, and Atlanta. One thing is for sure, the Steelers cannot afford any more losses.
T.O. will never change
Did anybody watch the Eagles vs. Cowboys showdown yesterday? Well what I saw was Terrell Owens being the same old person. In the fourth quarter Owens was underthrown by QB Drew Bledsoe, and you could tell he wasn't happy. If that happens a couple more times, we are going to see yet another T.O. outburst that leads to him getting in trouble. You just watch.
