Are D'Backs giving up on playoffs?

INDIANAPOLIS- I don't know why it is, but Arizona's recent moves make it look like they are playing for the future. Yesterday the Diamonbacks completed a trade that sent veteran Shawn Green to the Mets for a minor league pitcher. Shawn Green is an everyday guy for the D'Backs that puts up decent numbers. When you are only a couple of games out of the wild card position and still in the pennant race, you cannot trade an everyday guy unless you get one in return. I feel it is a very stupid move, and it hurts me to be a D'Backs fan at this time.
There is still a month of the season to go, and like all season the Diamondbacks are in a spot to make a run at the playoffs. When you make a move like this after a 2 game losing streak it makes it look like you don't think you can make a run at the playoffs. When you are in the chase you have to do absolutely everything you do to make the playoffs and you cannot play it safe by planning for the future. They just traded to get an old pitcher in Livan Hernandez, then they are going to make a move like this? It just does not make sense.
