Cubs score early, hold off Brewers

INDIANAPOLIS- The Cubs have done it again. They got out early and scored almost all of their runs in the first inning to just take the energy out of the Brewers. The Cubs hit two 2 run home runs in the first inning and led 5-0 after 1. Pitcher Carlos Marmol gave up 2 solo home runs in the second and third innings, but that was about it for the Brewers. Each team added another run in the later innings and the Cubs took it 6-3.
This was another important game because it gives more confidence to a younger pitcher who could really use it at this point in the season. Marmol went 5.1 innings and only gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He is now 5-5 on the season and really coming on strong. He has to be big for the Cubs because he is their second most experienced MLB pitcher and he is only a rookie. He has been forced into a tough position where he has to grow up in a hurry, and he is doing a great job with it. The Cubs pitchers have been hot of late, and I just hope they will be able to keep that up. These next couple of series coming up are huge because they are within the division. The Cubs are now only 4 games behind the Brewers in the division and 12.5 behind the Cardinals for the division lead. They continue to fight, and that is really all you can ask for from a team.
