INDIANAPOLIS- If the Cubs had any hope of making an incredible comeback and taking the wild card spot, they better just forget it. It looks like the team has completely given up hope, and they just got more bad news on Saturday. Pitcher Mark Prior was placed on the DL for the third time this season, and he may be lost for the year. At the start of the year the Cubs did not have a single rookie in the rotation, now they have four. Carlos Zambrano is the lone veteran on the team now.
Rookie pitcher Guzman did not have a good performance on Saturday. He went just 2.2 innings and managed to give up 7 runs in that short period of time. The Cubs relievers did fine in the game, but the starter made too many mistakes to allow the Cubs to make a comeback. The bats were alive and swinging, but the Cubs did not take advantage of their oppurtunitites. The Cubs had 13 hits but only managed to score 4 runs in the ball game. The Rockies scored 8 runs on 15 hits. The struggles continue for the Cubs, and things don't appear to be getting any better.
