INDIANAPOLIS- It is all too obvious. The Cubs no longer want to win games. The Cubs are just waiting for the season to be over so they can have a break. Last night the they lost to the Pirates, giving up 11 runs to the worst team in the MLB in the process. If the Cubs wanted to win they would not continue to put pitchers out there that continue to struggle. The Cubs have looked absolutely awful in the last 2 weeks and quite frankly I am sick of it. If you watched any of the ballgame last night you saw 2 things. First of all, you wasted your time, but you noticed that about 5 people were there watching the game. That is the way it is supposed to be when your team is in last place. The Cubs are not in any hurry to make a big move because the money is still piling in. What is the point of spending more money on players when you are going to sell out regardless. The Pirates are more than likely going to do something in the offseason now since nobody is showing up to their games, but the Cubs are in a completely different situation.
Derrek Lee returned to the Cubs and he went 1-4 with 2 RBI. Not a terrible game, but the Cubs just simply do not care. They will send Carlos Zambrano out on the mound tonight when they play the Pirates again, and tonight the offense probably won't show up. The offense scored 6 runs in the game last night which is normally considered to be a good game. Obviously it was not since they were nearly doubled by Pittsburgh. All of a sudden the Cubs have lost 9 out of 10, and nobody has been worse in the league then them lately. How can Dusty Baker say that he feels he is going to come back "sometimes". What in the world is that supposed to mean? I understand that the losing is not all Dusty's fault, but he continues to put out these pathetic pitchers and hurt the team. Dusty will not be coming back next season, and I can almost guarentee you that. The people in Chicago are interested in winning games, and Dusty has something completely different on his mind.
