INDIANAPOLIS- Me, and probably the rest of the Cubs fans around the country, are in a sad state of mind today because of the way they have been playing lately. The Cubs had won 5 of 6 before this 3 game losing streak, but the Cubs just look dismal right now.
The Cubs young pitching rotation is finally catching up to them. It looked good at first when Rich Hill got a couple of wins in a row, and Ryan O'Malley posted a shutout in his rookie debut, but not anymore. Just to make it worse, the Cubs bullpen has been among the worst in all of baseball, and they cannot even get to Dempster for a close situation. I think it is just one of those situations where the Cubs need to back it in for the season, and see if they can't pick up an experienced pitcher or two in the offseason. Even if that is not possible, the rookies from this year will have a full year under their belt, and they should be a lot better off. I hate to say it, but I am throwing in the towel on the Cubs right now because I just don't any chance of them doing anything in the final month. The only thing I have to get excited about right now is for Carlos Zambrano to win the NL Cy Young.
The Cubs will be in action again tonight against the Phillies when they will send rookie Guzman out to the mound searching for his first win of the season. The Cubs are just hoping to get one in this series before they get ready to play St. Louis again.
