INDIANAPOLIS- Just when everything got a whole lot better for a Cubs, things went in the opposite direction. Again. The Cubs looked good early, but when the Cardinals got a run on a throwing error from Marmol you knew it was going to be a long night.
Marmol pitched only 3 innings before coming out of the game. The Cubs trailed just 4-3 in the 6th inning, but from there it fell apart. Roberto Novoa gave up back to back home runs in the 6th, then Scott Aardsma gave up back to back to back home runs in the 7th. The game was not a fun one to watch, and the Cubs bullpen problems were greatly exploited.
The only good thing for Cub fans is that Carlos Zambrano will be pitching on Saturday, a chance for the Cubs to redeem themselves in the series. They are now 10-4 against the Cardinals this season, and big Z will give the Cubs a good chance to make it 11.
